Frequently Asked Questions

Every BMS that is able to talk KNX, BACNET, OPC or Web services can seamlessly be integrated in our platform. The good news: this covers up to 80% of buildings that we review and avoids a significant upfront cost.

The setup is fairly easy and takes four steps:

  1. BMS and metering connection by installing the byNode.
  2. Internet connection, we use the standard ports.
Both points takes as little as 10 minutes.
  3. Integrating the BMS data-points into the byNeuron environment. This is generally the most labour intensive part of any integration project. However, we’ve developed some import-tools to support the speed and reliability of this process. We complete the mapping and configuration process of a mid-sized building in as little as a day.
  4. Setup your personal environment with the provided templates. Your personal projectpage is already prepared with some popular templates, so you can see direct results. Making your own graph’s and dashboards is just a matter of connecting the right data point to the chosen visual element. Your integrator can also do this for you. More advanced functions  will be configured by your integrator. A mid-sized building is dissected in our software on two or three days.

If the internet connection fails or is interrupted, the byNode saves the data itself. By default the byNode saves up to 9999 events (for a very large building this corresponds to an interruption of about 1 hour) but can be adjusted on demand up to 100 000 events.

The byNode does not have a default backup battery. The byNode uses the voltage of the bus system -24V instead of 230V. When the main power falls out, the bus system also falls out. When no data comes in, the byNode doesn’t have to be running either.

In one building only we have a byNode with backup battery because the bus system also has a backup battery.

In buildings with an emergency generator, in hospitals for instance, the byNode can also be switched to the emergency system.
